With the release of the WoTLK in mid November 2008, a new class, The Death Knight, was introduced.

The Death Knights are World of Warcrafts first Hero Class. What this ‘Hero Class’ exactly means is unknown because they have not proven to
be very different then other classes except for the facts that you need to have a level 55 or higher level character to create a Death Knight, that the Death Knight will start as a level 55 upon being created and that the Death Knight uses Runic Power to be able to use his abilities.

Once you create a Death Knight you will enter the game as a level 55 character that is loyal to Arthas the Lich King. You will start fully equipped with green gear and 4, 12 slot bags and 20 silver in Acherus – The Ebon Hold which can be found in the Eastern Plaguelands. As you start questing near The Ebon Hold you will be rewarded talent points and blue item and once you reach level 57 or so you will have the regular amount of talent points for that level and full blue gear.

I will not take away the fun by explaining the quest chain but I can tell you that the quest chain is cool and rewarding. You can reach level 58 in just an hour or two by doing the quests around The Ebon Hold so even if you do not intend to play a Death Knight it is nice to at least pick up some cool lore. Once you hit 58 you are able to go to the Outlands though and you know that the leveling there isn’t time-consuming, so who knows; even if you didn’t plan to play a Death Knight, you might still get stuck playing one because it is a cool class. A Death Knight is a melee class that can wear most of the melee weapons. One can equip two one-handed weapons or choose for one two-handed weapon. He can serve as a melee damage dealer or as a tank. A Death Knight however, cannot equip a Shield. They are able to wear plate armor and are able to get a very high parry chance.

The Death Knight is a melee fighter that uses Runic Power for his special abilities, like said before. He has 6 runes that he can use by using certain abilities. These runes have a cool down but do give the Death Knight some Runic Power. This Runic Power can then be used to use other special abilities that only cost Runic Power and do not place a rune on cool down.

One of the first quests you will come across is called “The Emblazoned Runeblade”. This quest will give you the ability called Runeforging. This ability can be used to forge a rune on the DK’s weapons.

The Death Knight has three talent trees like any other class namely Blood, Frost and Unholy. Each tree gives advantages and it’s up to the player’s preference which talent tree or combination of talent trees he would like to use.

The advantages of a Death Knight are that he starts at level 55, is very easy to level and can continue fighting for longer periods of time, can both tank and dps, they can have a Ghoul and Gargoyle pet and that they look sort of cool. The disadvantage of playing a Death Knight is that almost everybody has decided to play a Death Knight, which makes it harder to find groups and raids etc.

Death Knight Leveling Guide

Once you have created your Death Knight you will see that you have no talent points yet. That can be quite weird for a level 55 character but you shouldn’t worry. The quests in and around the Ebon Hold will all give you talent points. But how exactly should you use these to level up your Death Knight really fast?

Well, that’s what this guide is about. I will explain which talent build is nice and for what reason.

To start with I must say that the Death Knight is a great class that has nice abilities like a pet, great damaging spells, plate armor and heavy normal attacks. The talent trees are Blood, Frost, and Unholy.

What you are looking for while leveling is a build that allows you to continue fighting and speed you up in any other way possible. That’s the reason why I say that a Blood/Unholy build would be the best for leveling. Assuming that you will level solo, I have made the following build and you will see that this build is great for solo leveling:

Death Knight Leveling Guide

Let’s start with the Blood talents. Butchery is just great for leveling and should be taken no matter which build you decide to make if you want to level fast. Then you got some nice talents that improve your damage and then you see Rune Tap and the Improved Rune Tap talent. This is one of those talents that will keep you going because it will restore your HP. Then you have Vendetta, Mark of Blood, Blood Worms, Blood Aura, and Vampiric Blood that will also help you to keep your hit points up. With all these talents you basically can’t die while leveling.

With Hysteria, Hearth Strike, Might of Mograine, Blood Gorged and Dancing Rune Weapon you will have great damaging abilities.

The reason you should focus on Unholy a bit as well is that you will become a bit more effective when it comes to AoE damage with Morbidity and Corpse Explosion. Then you have a 5% Dodge chance through Anticipation and some extra stats from Shadow of Death. The reduced cool down on Death Grip is also very handy. Last but definitely not least is On a Pale Horse. This talent is great for leveling and will reduce your travelling time. A side effect of this nice leveling talent is that your stun and fear effects will be reduced by 20%.

Altogether you can say that this build will keep you going because of all the health gaining abilities the Blood tree has to offer. The Blood tree also has a few nice damaging abilities while the unholy tree adds a bit of AoE damage and reduces your travelling time. Nice thing about this talent tree is that you are also capable to deal with opponents in PvP situations, which is especially nice on PvP realms.

Depending on various factors, such as how close the mobile phone is to a tower, obstructions such as buildings or trees, etc, the signal may vary. Most mobile devices use a set of bars of varying heights to display the strength of the signal where the device is located. Traditionally five bars are used.

Generally, a stronger mobile phone signal is easier to obtain in a cities and towns (urban areas), though urban areas do have some “dead zones” of their own where a reception cannot be obtained. On the contrary, many rural or minimally inhabited areas lack a signal or have a very weak reception, but many mobile phone providers are attempting to set up towers in parts of these areas most likely to be occupied by users, such as along major highways. Even some national parks and other popular tourist destinations away from urban areas now have cell phone receptions.

In an area where the signal would normally be strong, certain other factors may have an effect on the reception, thereby making it either stronger or weaker, or may cause complete interference. For example, a building with thick walls may prevent a mobile phone from being used. In many underground areas, such as tunnels, basement, undergrounds parking and subway stations, is the signal weak or not available.
Additionally, the weather and volume of network traffic may impact the strength.

Weak signal strength can also be caused by destructive interference of the signals from local towers in urban areas, or by the construction materials used in some buildings causing rapid attenuation of signal strength. Large buildings such as warehouses, hospitals and factories often have no usable signal further than a few metres from the outside walls. Even in high reception areas it is often found that basements and the interiors of large buildings have poor reception.

Areas where cell phones signals cannot be transmitted to or be received from a nearby antenna,  cell site, base station or repeater are known as dead zones. In these areas, the cell phone is said to be in a state of outage. Dead zones are usually areas where cell phone service is not available because the signal between the handset and the cell site antenna is blocked, usually by hilly terrain, excessive foliage, physical distance, or tall buildings.

There are a number of factors that can create dead zones which may exist even in locations in which a wireless carrier offers coverage. The main factors are caused by the limitations in cellular network architecture (the locations of antennas), limited network density, and interference from other cell sites and topography.
Since cell phones rely on radio waves that travel though the air which can easily reduce the strength of the signal which in turn can make the cell phones unreliable at times. Like other radio transmissions, cell phone calls can be interrupted by large buildings, terrain, trees or other objects between the phone and the nearest base station antennas.

Many wireless service providers work continually to improve and upgrade their networks in order to minimize the unexpected termination of a call, access failures, and dead zones.

Dropped call is a term commonly used to describe the situation in which a wireless mobile phone call is unexpectedly terminated due to technical reasons, including presence in a dead zone. Dropped calls may occur when the mobile phone moves out of range of a wireless network
(the reach of the antenna). An active call cannot usually be maintained across a different company’s network (as calls cannot be re-routed over the traditional phone network while in progress); resulting in the termination of the call once a signal cannot be maintained between the phone and the original network.

Another common reason is when a phone is taken into an area where wireless communication is unavailable, interrupted, interfered with, or jammed. From the network’s perspective, this is the same as the mobile moving out of the coverage area.

Occasionally calls are dropped upon handoff between cells within the same provider’s network. This problem may be caused by an imbalance of traffic between the two cell sites’ areas of coverage. If the new cell site is at capacity, it cannot accept the additional traffic of the call trying to “hand in.” It may also be due to the network configuration not being set up properly, such that one cell site is not “aware” of the cell to which the phone is trying to handoff. If the phone cannot find an alternative cell to which to move that can take over the call, the call is lost.

Co-channel and Adjacent channel interference can also be responsible for dropped calls in a wireless network. Neighbour cells with the same frequencies interfere with each other, deteriorating the quality of service and producing dropped calls. Transmission problems are also a common cause of dropped calls. Another problem may be a faulty transceiver (XCVR) inside the base station.

Calls can also be dropped if a mobile phone at the other end of the call loses battery power and stops transmitting abruptly.

Sun spots and solar flares are rarely blamed for causing interference leading to dropped calls.

Experiencing too many dropped calls is one of the most common customer complaints received by wireless service providers. They have attempted to address the complaint in various ways, including expansion of their home network coverage, increased cell capacity, and offering refunds for individual dropped calls.

Various signal booster systems are manufactured to reduce problems due to dropped calls and dead zones. Many options, such as wireless units and antennas, are intended to aid in strengthening weak signals.

Verizon to upgrade 60 Airports to 4G Network.

Verizon has been working to implement the new network in 38 major cities. Again, the plans are to have these 38 cities online with 4G by the end of the year. Most of the airports scheduled to have the new network, 4G Long Term Evolution, are close to these major cities. The exceptions are Honolulu International and Salt Lake City International, which will have their own coverage.

Verizon Wireless is courting the business traveler. With business travelers using laptops and Smartphones while waiting to board their flights, Verizon is trying to seduce them with faster service.

I have had the HTC EVO 4g for 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it! Before purchasing the phone, I had to compare it to another competitor in this smart phone market, the Motorola Droid X. Now don’t get me wrong, the Droid X is a great phone and it runs on Verizon’s rock solid network. However, after holding the phone and playing with the X’s interface for a while, I wasn’t impressed with HTC EVO 4G Android Phone (Sprint)

Last month Verizon announced its plan to offer 4 G wireless service to Seattle by the end of the year. 4 G is a new-technology market already offered in Seattle by Sprint and T-Mobile, so naturally Verizon wants to join in the race. AT&T Mobility, having exclusive rights to the iPhone at this time (which is NOT 4 G), hasn’t announced plans to join the 4 G race in 2011. If they do join in the fray, can we assume then that AT&T will be pushing for 4 G iPhone? There is a downside to this however. Verizon, as well as competing cell phone service providers, are implementing tiered pricing plans for heavy data users. Many cost-conscious travelers will still use the WiFi offered at most airports, which is usually free or for a small monthly fee. For example Boingo charges subscribers $7.95 a month for Wi-Fi connections, and they offer daily and even hourly rates as well. Boingo is available at 685 airports worldwide. I think Verizon will have a tougher time charging higher rates with cheap competition like that.

Verizon plans to install enhancements at the airports. Verizon spokesman Jeffrey Nelson says, Airport buildings are built differently, with lots of underground space. Many require in-building systems. Perhaps this will lead to more home versions of cell signal boosters for those people who live in buildings with similar issues. I am not sure cell boosters would help in the rural areas where coverage is spotty, but since technology is always moving forward, we can hope.

Is 4G really necessary? I have a Droid X with only 3G service. It is sometimes still much faster than my DSL at home. Of course I am not streaming video most of the time, and the Droid X still doesnt have Adobe Flash 10 yet. Once Verizon has the 4G network up, it will still be a long time before it reaches out to touch those of us in the rural areas. We have only had DSL in many areas of our county for about 4 years. In fact, some areas of our county still only have dial-up service. (Time to move I say!) But realistically, using a Verizon broadband air card is doable, although expensive. Verizon charges about $65 for the service. Perhaps though with the broadband air card, 4G will make it faster. Now theres a reason to push for 4G!

I have had the chance to try out the  HTC EVO 4G for a number of weeks now and I had real come to love this phone. While trying the phone, I had the oppertunity of compare it to another competitor in this smart phone market, the Droid X. However, after holding the phone and playing with the X’s interface for a while, I wasn’t impressed.

Sprint has presently three models of Blackberry’s available to you in the US: the Curve 9330 (Purple and Grey), the Style (Purple and Black) and the Bold 9650. For extreme users that like to custom ROM their phones so that they can install unofficial updates, apps, and customize on their phones, the ‘pure Google’ is easier to hack. The Nexus comes with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, WiFi hot spot capabilities for up to five devices, 4 inch display, front facing VGA camera and a rear 5 megapixel camera and 16 GB of internal storage.

The HTC EVO 4G is the best contender for the top Sprint Android position, with its closes competitors being the Nexus 4G (mentioned above) and followed by Samsung Epic 4G. The HTC EVO has a slightly larger WVGA display at 4.3 inches (800 x 480 pixel resolution). This makes viewing web pages much easier due to the impressive screen size and sharp clarity of the display.
It sports both the front facing 1.3 VGA megapixel camera for video calling and an 8 megapixel rear camera. The rear camera takes excellent pictures and has HD video capabilities. If the camera is an important feature for you, take a look at this phone. The HTC EVO makes use of the Sense user interface, which works well and has the Leap feature that allows you to pinch anywhere on the screen to view all open programs. Like the Nexus and Epic the HTC EVO 4G runs on Sprint’s 4G network, which has good download speeds though is not available in all cosmopolitan areas. This phone has picked up some criticism with regard to battery life, however, I think that it is fair to say that all the smart phones, and particularly the ones running on 4G, have battery issues. This will surely be the next feature for developers to tackle. For some this phone is on the large size being 4.8 inches tall, 2.6 inches wide and 0.5 inches thick.

In a good second place is the Nexus S 4G packed with the latest mobile technologies, including a Super AMOLED Contour  Display with curved glass screen, 1 GHz  Hummingbird processor, and Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking plus 3G Mobile Hotspot capability for sharing your 3G connection with up to six Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously. And with support for Near Field Communications (NFC), the Nexus S can read information from “smart” tags, or everyday objects that have NFC chips in them–from stickers and movie posters to t-shirts. This phone is outfitted with a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera plus a front-facing camera for easy video chats on the go. Other features include assisted GPS    (A-GPS) for navigation and location-based services, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, haptic feedback vibration, access to both personal and  corporate e-mail, and up to 6 hours of talk time. And with the Nexus S, you’ll always be the first to receive software upgrades and new Google mobile apps as soon as they become available.

The third flagship Android for Sprint is the Samsung Epic 4G which has a 4 inch Super AMOLEDTM Touch screen and despite the fact it has a keyboard, it is about an ounce lighter in weight than the HTV EVO. This speaks volumes about the AMOLED screen and the great design
on this phone. The charging port is located on the top side of the phone and also has a little slide you need to drag open before accessing the MICRO USB/Charger. With an Android 2.1 Platform which allows for up to 6 hours Talk Time. The 5.0 megapixel camera has auto-focus and a 3x digital zoom which make it possible to take pictures like a digital camera. Even if the objects are moving and stop for a second, the phone will still take good pictures. The Samsung Epic 4G comes with a 1GHz High-Speed Processor and supports Sprint’s 4G WiMax network. One of the best features of this phone is the large slide out physical QWERTY keyboard. If you text message and email frequently, this might be a good option as the phone has fairly similar options to the above two phones and an excellent keyboard.
